Windows To The Spirit

Care,
comfort,
company
of family
and good friends rescues
even the bleakest times.
Surrendering oneself to
the care of another requires
trust and a willingness to embrace
the gentle offering of compassion.

Just when I think that I am in control
I am pulled off center by something
quite suddenly unexpected,
losing focus and balance.
Breathing deeply, uttering
a calming mantra,
I recover
knowing God
will guide
me.

The layers of responsibility
peeled back one by one as the rhythmic
pounding of the waves does magic
to soothe the hectic spirit.
Absent from the forces
which constantly drain
my energy,
renewal
awaits
me.

Rest
and time
to relax
are important
to break the cycle
of the stressful, frantic
lifestyle upon which we thrive.
Yet our energy and strength comes
from God and not from our own efforts.
Create space in us for sacred pauses.

A friend recommended a book to me titled Sacred Pauses by April Yamasaki which features different spiritual practices to find everyday personal renewal.  It is a great gift to give yourself  and enjoy a personal retreat.

God
is the
missing piece
of the puzzle.
A good life does not
always mean good fortune.
God gives us strength and courage
as cornerstones to help endure
all things that our lives may bring to us.
Create in us that sacred space for You.

Our soul is limitless and eternal.
A deep inner presence connected
to all other souls in the great
realm of the Holy Spirit.
Our souls exist in the
eternal now with
no place to go
or to be.
We are
one.

With
each and
every
life transition,
there are periods
of grief and renewal.
With due vigilance, fully
honor and recognize them both.
Grieve for what has been lost or taken.
Embrace the unknown, which is yet to come.

I
know that
God has plans
for my future…
ones filled with promise
and hope for life fulfilled.
My strengths and my weaknesses
are no mystery to God nor
are fears and jubilations hidden.
Surely I follow where the Spirit leads.
