Jesus
in your heart.
The Way is love.
We can see Jesus
in the face of others,
yet we do not often look
within ourselves for His presence.
Love yourself, listen to the Spirit.
Once you know the Way, His heart is your heart.
What
can one
let go of
that takes up space,
making room for grace?
Angst, frustration, worry,
anger, petty jealousy,
things that fester on the dark side
and lurk in the shadows of the heart?
Shine light on them and they will disappear.
Tend
to your
inner space
when things outside
seem beyond control.
Quiet whispers to you
the wisdom of the Spirit.
Still all your senses and listen
to the sweet rhythm of your heart and breath.

I decided to begin the week with a visual prayer using phrases from last week’s posts.
Grow
in love,
planting seeds
first in our hearts.
From this place of love,
our purpose for being
is reborn and flourishes.
Sharing this gift of renewal
transforms the emptiness within us
into sustainable acts of God’s grace.
Deep
in our
liturgy
spanning ages
is a connection
to those who walked with Christ
and carried on the message
of God’s eternal love and grace.
Close your eyes, imagine being there,
feel the grounding of your feet on Christ’s path.
Lent
humbles
our spirit.
Humility
creates in us space
for possibilities.
Rend your heart from temptation,
remembering moments of grace.
Gather them up, offering like grain
to those in need of spiritual food.
Hope
is a
strong muscle
anchored in love,
strengthened by hardships.
As constant companions
on journeys of the spirit,
trials have a vital purpose,
not as tests but as bulwarks of faith
in the power of God’s divine presence.
My
faith is
rusty, worn
thin by neglect.
In the midst of fear
I have lost sight of hope.
My soul yearns to journey where
joy and peace flow abundantly,
where light shines in the midst of darkness.
There I will discover my lost hope.
As Lent approaches this year, I find myself wanting a spiritual discipline to resurrect my lost hope. The world is reeling from the effects of a global pandemic and our country is more divided than ever before. Every day begins and ends with isolation and confusion. When will all this darkness be chased away by the light? I know God is in the midst of all that surrounds me and I need only open my eyes and my heart to receive the grace that is within this time. But I must make this journey to exercise my hope. It is easy to be overwhelmed by events and see only the dark side. But on the edge of light there is hope. Beginning on Ash Wednesday, my goal is to post every day until Easter as a journey in hope.
