Bruised Egos

The hurts we absorb from one another
even those done without intention
or malice, leave lasting bruises.
Our bodies wear scars that fade
but when ego suffers
it takes much longer
to heal from pain,
remaining
sore to
touch.

Raging Bulls

Conflict
rooted in rage
blocks the ability
to see, think, and react clearly.
Diffusing such raw emotion is key
to understanding another’s
viewpoint or perspective.
Calm minds avoid
conflict.

Shades of Gray*

In
our minds
we all have
light and shadow.
Subtle shades of gray
are characteristic
of certain traits while darkness
will manifest itself also.
Ultimately it is the contrast
that highlights the presence of light in us.

*According to Wikipedia, grey is the British, Canadian, Australian, Irish, New Zealand and South African spelling, although gray remained in common usage in the UK until the second half of the 20th century.  Gray has been the preferred American spelling since approximately 1825, although grey is an accepted variant.

Seasoning

Seasons
of suffering
pass through us as well as
times of celebration and joy.
We cannot predict the timing of them
but we endure, trusting in
our faith.   It is in trust
that our true faith
seasons.

Never Too Late

The
good news
I’ve learned is
that even if
I am stuck, there is
always the potential
for change and new beginnings.
It is never too late to start
that which God has planned for me to do.
I just have to be open to the change.

Streaming

As
beings
created
by the source of
the whole universe,
our energy is part
of an ever-flowing stream
carrying all humanity
and the environment around us…
emanating radiance from within.

The Grace of Gratitude

We
all have
special gifts,
even those with
whom relationships
are difficult to bear.
Gifts, even if poorly wrapped,
are worthy of our awareness.
Appreciating what gift each brings
to the table cultivates gratitude.

Much Ado About Nothing

Nothing.
For centuries
wise men contemplated
the wisdom of sheer nothingness.
There is certain elegance in having
to do nothing, yet there is shame
in having nothing
to do.  What is
nothing?

Be Alert

I
do not
know the path
I am destined
to follow or when
I will clearly hear my call.
Although frustration is my
constant companion,  I want to
be alert and glimpse the shimmer of
the illumination of divine light.

Awareness

To be
fully aware
means to see things the way
they really are without judgments
and expectations of how they should be.
If you close your eyes and focus
with your inner soul, it
will allow you
to be.
