Bid
goodbye
to winter,
new life beckons.
The trees are dancing,
flowering limbs reaching
toward the warmth of the sun.
Light lingering past suppertime
calling us outside to see day’s end.
Transitions of spring, a time for rebirth.
Time
happens
right before
my eyes without
as much as a nod
or a tip of its hat
before rushing out the door
into tomorrow and what’s next.
It is a fact. Time waits for no one.
I live the day, for it is all I have.
We
are dust
and to dust
we shall return.
This is common ground,
a universal truth
without color, creed or tribe.
Death is the thread that binds us all.
Yet how we live in this world matters.
Every heart is capable of goodness.
The
promise
of morning.
Each new day is
a linear glimpse
into God’s holy time.
Feeling earth beneath my feet,
I ground myself to the Spirit
before putting shoes on for God’s work.
Tomorrow the promise will start anew.
The
layers
of skin are
worn away by
time, grief, and regret.
Yet those gray hairs belie
the strength of grace, endurance,
and compassion that restores us.
We do not become old, we grow old.
Pray for the wisdom of years and live it.
Where
the veil
is thin, that
which is between
body and spirit,
love is fierce, transcending
mere physical attraction.
Its fluid movement inherent
in what is done and what is undone.
Love has the power to change everything.
To
truly
embrace and
live into an
intrinsic belief
requires an openness
to listening, acceptance,
softening of hard edges and
willingness to see in a new light.
To believe one must suspend disbelief.
Life
is a
pilgrimage,
a sojourn in
miles, minutes or words
to find or lose something.
The journey is the reward.
Drop a pin and connect the dots
to arrive where your head and your heart
can talk to one another and find peace.
Look
forward
not behind
for hope is found
in what is to be.
We learn from past mistakes
and live into them in faith.
Hope is the energy of change.
Trust even in the midst of chaos,
goodness and mercy will surely follow.
The
fount of
creation.
The breathing heart
of earth, cloud, and sea.
Currents pulse within us.
Scarcity or abundance,
a double-edged sword, ebbs and flows.
In baptism, the holy sacrament,
water seals us as Christ’s own forever.
