Windows To The Spirit

Come
let us
fly away.
Places beckon
to be discovered
with treasure troves full of
adventures and memories.
Feasts of local food and fine wine
to be savored and long remembered
once days return to ordinary time.

I
am so
excited!
A new journey
begins tomorrow
after months of planning.
What has been so far ahead
is finally here and yet soon
I know it will be a memory.
But for this moment, it is just beginning.

The
little
things often
are overlooked.
Although the splendor
of a flower in bloom
is breathtakingly lovely,
there would be no beauty if not
for each single petal doing its job.
Unassuming, unpretentious presence.

One
can know
much about
many things, yet
understand nothing.
However, where knowledge
and understanding collide
in moments of enlightenment
there is born the essence of wisdom.
A wise one has knowledge and understands.

A
leader
puts aside
personal gain
for the common good,
labors to orchestrate
compromise, and blends voices
into a symphony worthy
of harmonic collaboration
and not a cacophony of insults.

I
love
my coffee
with just a splash
of cream making it
a lovely shade of beige.
Wouldn’t that be a cute name
for a dog whose coat is that rich
color with soft and velvety fur?
Both are sources of warmth and happiness.

Any
beings
can be “saints”
including dogs.
Unconditional
love is surely a sign
of the saintly qualities
God bestows upon those whose lives
become living breathing works of art
on a canvas of exceptional grace.

From
the mouths
of our souls
the liturgy
summons us to pray
together, one body
in search of communion with
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We find solace in the word made flesh
as we go out into the world renewed.

The
rhythm
of my life
charges through me
like a speeding train
hurtling out of control.
No time to enjoy the ride
or scenery along the way.
I want to stop the endless rocking
and do nothing but rest in the cool grass.
