Week 21: Home

Travel opens my eyes and feeds my soul.
Delightful, rich experiences
stretch and expand the horizons
of my ordinary life.
Foreign sights, sounds and smells
weave an enticing
tapestry, but
it is good
to be
home.

Week 20: Lost

So
much more
to the world
than meets the eye.
A shared history,
passion and sacrifice,
banishing an evil foe.
Pilgrims journey to sacred sites
to pay homage to Divine presence.
Lost in the ordinary, we forget.

Week 19: Hubris

So
many
unhappy
people, choosing
to live in despair,
hubris their undoing,
finding no joy in small things,
casting weak shadows in God’s light.
The present moment is all we have.
Choose to love and live your best life today.

Week 18: Mayhem

The
sandbox
is mayhem!
Fistfuls of sand
airborne as parents
are nowhere to be found!
Is there no one in charge here?
It is like the world in chaos.
It is hard not to be overwhelmed
and let life get in the way of prayers.

Week 17: Redemption

As
Christians
we believe
in the Divine
working within us.
We are Easter people.
Resurrection and rebirth.
All cells of the body of Christ
sending love and breathing compassion
into a world in need of redemption.

Week 16: Anger

Look
with grace
on the pinched
face of anger.
Within that hard heart
dwells a lost child of God.
Reach beyond the hard borders
of resistance to compassion.
For therein lies hope for redemption
through the passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Week 15: Humanity

We
are who
we are through
one another.

We are not islands.
The same yet different.

In our shared humanity
all lives are interrelated,
a single garment of creation
.
As threads in God’s handiwork, we exist.

Week 14: Forgive

The
hardest
person to
forgive is not
our enemy but
ourselves. Lord have mercy,
from You no secrets are hid.

There is no need to conceal guilt.
We are called to forgive each other,
but cannot unless we forgive ourselves

Week 13: Wait

Wait
for it.
But what if
IT never comes?
Has time been wasted?
Worry not, for our call
can come in a gentle nudge,
a gust of wind or by fast train.
Watch for signs in the ordinary.
Have faith, wherever we are, God is there.

Week 12: Spring

Bid
goodbye
to winter,
new life beckons.

The trees are dancing,
flowering limbs reaching
toward the warmth of the sun.

Light lingering past suppertime
calling us outside to see day’s end.

Transitions of spring, a time for rebirth.
