Alleluia

It
is the
mystery
of faith. Christ has
died, Christ has risen,
and Christ will come again.
Lent is finally over.
Today we are Easter people.
We rejoice that Jesus is alive
not only in our hearts but in our lives.

Good Soil

The
time is
almost here
for me to get
my hands in the dirt
preparing my beds and
plucking out those pesky weeks.
I love getting ready to plant.
Turning the ground is therapeutic
as if from the good soil my own growth springs.

Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder

God’s
face is
even in
those with whom we
don’t see eye to eye.
Although we may be on
opposite sides of the fence
we can look at one another
and see God’s face emanating love.
Those who behold God see only beauty.

Good Things Come to Those Who Wait

Be
patient.
You cannot
anticipate
opportunities
available to you.
Control is not the issue.
Ego whispers in your ear and
tempts you to make decisions without
discerning and listening for God’s voice.

Living on the Edges

There
are too
many times
I live my faith
around the edges
succumbing to the wiles
of a world apart from God
knowing well that at the center
is a life, when lived in openness
to the divine, is gracefully transformed.

A Thief in the Night

Secrets
hide among us
like thieves in the night who
pedal their wares in dark corners.
There is a time and a place for secrets.
Where the is intent to deceive
or to hide the truth, we
have too many
secrets.

Family Values

Our
children
should be loved
and nurtured through
their formative years.
As parents and Christians
we are the ones who raise them,
not politicians or teachers,
along the journey to adulthood.
God loaned them to us to love and protect.

Praying Forward

We
live each
day looking
forward, but at
the end of the day
we look back to reflect
on what we have accomplished.
It’s not that we can change the past
or do the things we have left undone.
Accept what is and pray for what will be.

Spring Revival

New growth
happens each spring.
A rose pruned in the fall
revives when the sun’s warmth returns.
It is time for me to shed winter’s gloom
and to embrace with open arms
opportunities to
experience
new growth.

Once Bitten Twice Shy

I
hear the
siren call
of something new.
Change has a way of
making me unsettled,
looking for ways to fit in.
But I need to tread carefully.
I’ve been down this road before and failed.
It’s time to sit and listen for God’s voice.
