Where
is the
kingdom of
heaven? Is it…
above or around?
within us or without?
the present or the future?
It is all of these things and more.
Heaven is not bound by time and place.
Just rest in the promise the kingdom … is.
Bad
news comes
in cycles.
Like waves crashing
on the shore, sadness,
once it starts, keeps coming
until we are drowning in
sorrow so deep and so painful
we are numb. All we can do is pray.
Surrounded by God’s grace, sadness recedes.
I
have made
a wish list,
of things to do
and places to see.
Live for the whole summer
in the south of France, cooking
my way through the farmers’ markets.
Taste and see the bounty of Ireland.
Behold the wonders of the Grand Canyon.
To see the world before mine gets too small.
Unpredictable currents of life
can alter our paths, creating
a desire to not look back
but to look forward to
experiences,
things left undone
when life got
in the
way.
Be
God’s dream
in the world.
In our daily
life and work, we can
emulate the love that
Jesus showed us as he lived.
Among us still, we can follow
as disciples to one another
being and doing the work of the Lord.
I
writhe in
discomfort
when confronted
with hard decisions.
Should I, would I, could I?
What are the implications?
There are no easy solutions.
I listen for signs of the spirit.
There are often answers in the silence.
As
Christians
we partake
of the body
and blood of Jesus
poured out in love for us.
Into our hands we receive
Christ’s life, and then, we put our lives
into His, so with renewed spirit,
we can spread the love of God in the world.
Spring
is just
beginning
to show itself
after a fierce fight
against Winter’s cold wind.
With sizzling heat, now Summer
has thrown her hat into the ring.
No longer gentle, Spring has become
a battle between Winter and Summer.
Seek
and find
God’s glory
in everyone.
Even the person
who challenges you most
is one of God’s beloved.
Beneath the surface of hatred
is a heart that once knew love because
we are born created in God’s image.
The
power
of prayer
without ceasing
brings us to our knees.
To intercede with God
for the concerns of others
is a selfless act, transforming
our hearts into a vessel of love.
This cup when passed will never be empty.
The
language
God uses
to speak to us
is the one closest
to our listening heart.
God whispers the words we need
to guide us on our faith journeys.
We each have a unique faith language
leading us into communion with God.
