The
season
of Easter
is coming to
a close with new life
springing up all around.
It is time to draw a line
under the past, put it aside
and look to the future with fervor.
Resurrection illuminates the way.
God’s
vast love
surrounds us
in creation.
From the skies above
to the earth beneath us
from the seas that crash our shores
and to the streams that flow into
the rivers surging across our lands.
We are born into creation to love.
I
believe
we journey
“on pilgrimage”
those times of our life
when we experience
a period of great change
and become disoriented.
To continue, we must disconnect
from how we previously steered our lives.
When
I try
to hurry
I make mistakes
and things don’t go well.
My body takes over
abandoning common sense.
I often have to start over.
Breathe, slow down, think before doing, for
each step is vital to the end result.
What
we have
been is past.
Every day is
a chance to begin
anew, to make amends
for things done and left undone.
What we will be still awaits us.
There is forgiveness in the present.
The Holy Spirit is our advocate.
There
is a
weariness
that comes about
from a finished task.
The effort was worth it.
And the tiredness then feels good.
Still there is always more to do.
For a moment I bask in the glow
and then it is time to begin again.
The
journey
may not be
to the top of
the mountain or the
shrine of an adored saint.
A transformation occurs
whenever the mind and heart meet
in the midst of search for sacred space
that will heal the body, mind and spirit.
How
are you?
Really, how
are you doing?
A simple question
to which we can listen
with intention and purpose,
without any interruption
to turn the attention to ourselves.
Listen with the heart to hear more than words.
Loss
centers
in the heart,
with tears flowing
from behind the eyes
releasing deep feelings
hidden from view far too long.
This loss does not come from outside.
Make time to nuture the tender one
inside of you longing for love and care.
If
you don’t
take the risk
or have courage
to ask the question,
the answer will remain
elusive, just out of reach
taunting you and casting shadows
of doubt and lingering discontent.
The longer you wait, the harder it gets.
