Windows To The Spirit

A
blizzard
foreboding,
invisible,
unprecedented.
Emotion pours over
crumbling walls of common sense.
Staggered by blinding confusion,
a fear of unknowing overwhelms.
Reach out, grasp God’s hand tightly, let fear go.

One
never
knows how God
will summon us
to experience
deep pain and suffering,
inviting the inner voice
to witness to God’s healing balm.
Strength to endure flows from endless Grace.
With patience, in God’s time, all will be well.

God
gave us
free will, not
to rule the world
but to love, cherish,
and share in creation.
It is through Christ, we cross the
borders of the holy and are
entreated to love one another.
Lord, take us, renew us and remake us.

Lent
ends and
Eastertide
begins, the time
of deep reflection
and atonement fading
to resurrection glory,
the empty tomb rising above
the brutal details of His passion.
Reawakened, we await Christ’s return.

Peace.
A sign
of comfort
from the Spirit.
A chance to exhale.
I sometimes hold my breath
during tumultuous times.
But when I close my eyes and breathe,
resting in the peace of the Spirit,
I know all will be well, all will be well.

In
times of
upheaval,
uncertainty
is a foggy veil,
thick and densely opaque.
Eyes focus on nothingness.
Each step taken tentatively.
Then suddenly, light breaks through the mist
revealing everything with clarity.

When
faced with
a problem,
instinctively
my first reaction
is too emotional.
Then I begin to wonder…
new possibilities emerge.
God comes to me disguised as my life
and I see things in a holy, new way.

Make
every
minute count.
Time is precious,
each second holy,
brimming with potential
to make a difference
in the life of another.
The relationships we tend and
the challenges we face are sacred.
Loving is the sign of a life well lived.

As
I sort
through old things
I have held dear
once upon a time
hard decisions arise.
Do I keep it forever
or do I just give it away?
I have plenty of space to treasure
memories stored on the shelves of my heart.

The
message
of Jesus
is to love God,
care for creation
and for fellow humans,
with all our heart, soul and mind.
It is the message of Jesus
rather than Jesus as the message
that will heal the deep wounds of today’s world.
