Trust
in God,
in yourself.
Trust your instincts
in uncertain times.
We are never alone.
We cannot know everything,
but that’s no reason not to walk
into the future and move forward.
When we’re grounded in God, we cannot fall.
Your
breath is
your Spirit.
Holy essence
emanating from`
your soul, your inner light.
Conversation, without words,
with each and every sip of air.
Listen for subtle words from the saints
surrounding you in the divine aura.
I
never
got to say
goodbye to you.
You left suddenly
surrounded by strangers.
I could not be by your side.
I could only vigil in place.
I would have held your hand and whispered
“go, do not be afraid, Mom is waiting.”
Dedicated to my father, one among the multitude of souls who have lost their lives to COVID.
Close
your eyes
and be still.
See with your heart,
letting it weep and
feel the joy and sorrow
of your experience; and
peel back the smooth and rough layers
of a soul in need of healing touch.
Tears of the heart are good for the spirit.
Lent
calls me
to prayer
creating a
safe and sacred space
to explore and question,
to give thanks and to lament,
to ask God for transformation
of doubts into quests for truth and peace.
Lord, renew a right spirit within me.
If
I name
a feeling
it is real.
It does not just lurk
in my subconscious mind.
Manifestation is good
even when the result is grim.
Confronting it outside of my head
allows me to defuse it in my heart.
As
the world
around me
vastly stretches
beyond my borders
I pray to understand
that which throws me off balance.
Change can be swift and unsettling.
The borderlands are fraught with danger.
The journey is rugged and life changing.
We
will all
disagree
about something,
but true awareness
of others requires us
to put on their coat and hat,
to understand their mind and heart
in ways that unravel our judgments.
God knows, one day we may be in their shoes.
